After spending time doing relief-work in post-war Kosovo, I returned to the United States ill-equipped to express what had happened to me there. I resumed my education at Biola University 2001 for art and found my “voice.” This discovery has led me down a very winding road, one that continues to be inspired and led by my relationship with Jesus Christ. His Voice is the one in my head, God breaths through me in order to create work that is agent for healing, recovery and breakthrough. The accessibility of my work encompasses a wide variety of venues. I have painted live on the street as well as at the Honolulu Museum of Art. Conceptually, I have generated paintings and installation relating to personal trauma as well as that of an entire people group. I wish to be an artist who speaks truth with an intensity that melts through mere convention. When one has experienced situations where life and death are clearly defined there is little room or time for anything else.
“All great works of art find their full force in those moments when conventions of the world are stripped away and confront our weakness, vulnerability, and mortality. For learning, in the end, meant little to writers like Shakespeare unless it translated into human experience.” -Chris Hedges
My process is very seasonal, depending on specific topics God stirs within me. I ruminate on a subject for a certain period of time and produce work as a way to reconcile visually what I am processing internally. I love partnering with various organizations and nonprofits providing them art that is a reflection and synthesis of what they are interested in too. I am available to paint live for fundraising galas, provide donor gifts, as well as doing personal and corporate commissions[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
